Department for Persons with Disabilities Award
The Murray Family
The Murray Family have been involved with the Department for Persons with Disabilities since its inception over 50 years ago, spanning 5 generations. Murray House is the longest running group home in New Jersey for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and was named after Jimmy Murray, a young man with special needs. Numerous Murray Family Members and friends have served on Catholic Charities Boards, including current Catholic Charities Board Vice President, Dennis Murray.
The Murray House Dinner Dance, chaired by the Murray Family, has helped raise nearly $1,000,000 for Catholic Charities throughout its existence. The Murray Family tradition will live on for decades to come, as a new generation of Murray's have come on board as Catholic Charities volunteers and advocates.
