On July 6, the Tompkins family, John, Sharon and Georgia, owners of JT’s Confections presented the Father English Food Pantry with a check for $3,000 to help with the added need for food during the Covid-19 pandemic. Founded in 2010, by John Tompkins and his family as a casual business, JT’s has grown into a nice little candy company at 1206 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph, NJ.
In 2013, Sharon, John’s wife, suggested that they use JT’s to raise money for charity. Since then, charitable works have been the main driver of the business. In 2016, they decided to donate all their profits to charity! When the covid-19 virus shut the business down, the family decided to work at home to continue to support needy charities. By making and selling their specialty “caramels for good” to family and friends, they raised $3,000 which the family donated to the Father English Food Pantry.
The Tompkins family members are no stranger to Catholic Family & Community Services. For the past few years, Sharon and her family have worked with the Delbarton School community to collect and distribute thousands of toys for needy families at CFCS at Christmas. This past year, Sharon was the co-chair of this wonderful event.
Carlos Roldan, Director of the Father English Food Pantries, and Sister Maureen Sullivan, Director of Pastoral Services and Volunteers for CFCS, accepted the generous and thoughtful donation. They both agreed that Catholic Charities and the CFCS Food Pantries are blessed to have such wonderful support from our friends, our volunteers and our community. Their time, talent and treasure has helped us enormously during this pandemic and given us the encouragement to continue our work to serve those most in need.
Our Food pantries and many programs at Catholic Charities are helping more people than ever before in our 80-year history. Donations and volunteers are always welcome. Visit www.ccpaterson.org/relief to make a contribution to our COVID-19 Relief Fund.
God bless the Tompkins Family and all of those who make a difference!
