Thank you to the DePaul Boys Varsity Football Team for hosting a Hawaiin Luau for all of the individuals who live in DPD's programs.
70 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities call DPD home, and all who were able to make it came out to DePaul High School yesterday for an evening long celebration.
"I'm having an awesome time, thanks DePaul!" said Kaleigh, from Wehrlen House as she danced the night away.
"We are so proud of these young men, who helped the people we serve had a great time and who treated everyone with the utmost dignity and respect," said Joanna Miller, DPD's Executive Director.
“My journey with Barnet House began many, many years ago. My Aunt Sissy (Charles Ann) was a resident. After her passing in 2009, I felt it important for my family and me to give back as a way of saying thank you,” Diane recollected “With the help of many dear friends, we adopted Barnet House residents and hosted Christmas parties and summer pool parties. In 2017, with the help of the DePaul Catholic High School football team and the St. Vincent DePaul youths in Stirling, the parties moved to the DePaul campus. At Christmas, we now adopt Barnet and Fitzpatrick Houses and we were super excited to host this BBQ with all 12 of DPD's programs!”
Additional thanks from the DPD and Catholic Charities families to DePaul Principal Russell Petrocelli, Athletic Director Joe Lennon , and football coaches Nicholas Campanile and
John McKenna. We would also like to thank all of the football players, other students, additional coaches, and all of the DePaul Family members who donated their time, food and efforts to this event.
