We are happy to announce the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) has awarded Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson, an Immediate Service Program grant to create a new "NJ Hope and Healing" program that will provide crisis counseling services.
We will work with the other Catholic Charities around the state (of the Diocese of Metuchen, Archdiocese of Newark, Diocese of Camden and Diocese of Trenton) to provide “virtual neighbor-helping-neighbor” crisis counseling to people impacted by COVID-19.
"We are helping more people than ever before, nearly double the amount of individuals at our food pantries and emergency assistance programs. This grant will allow us to devote a program specifically for crisis relief during this unprecented time, and allow our existing programs to continue with their much needed work," said Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson CEO, Scott Milliken.
We and our other Catholic Charities partners around the state have a long history of disaster crisis work. We have extensive experience from 9/11 and Superstorm Sandy to lead this initiative.
We look forward to working with the NJ Department of Human Services, New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Disaster and Terrorism Branch to rapidly operationalize the teams and support our New Jersey communities.
More information to follow as we establish this promising program to help New Jersians in need.
