Throughout American history, women have played an important role in our military, proudly serving in all branches to protect our freedom.
Earlier today, members of the Catholic Charities family, joined together for the signing of SJR-114, which designates June 12th as "Women Veterans Appreciation Day" in New Jersey!
"This was a phenomenal day in New Jersey for our female Veterans. Today was designated as 'Women Veterans Appreciation Day' on a national level (Senator Cory Booker) and on a state level (Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker and Senator Kristin Corrado). We also want to thank Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for her support. Thank you to the elected officials that supported this very important legislation. We'd also like to acknowledge the NJ sos Veteran Stakeholders group for their tireless efforts and advocacy. We are glad we can play a small part in this great effort," said Assistant Director of Catholic Charities Veterans Services David Pearson.
This important day will honor the millions of women Veterans who have sacrificed so much to serve our country.
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson is blessed to help many Veterans in need each day!
