Catholic Charities Board President, Monsignor Herbert Tillyer and Catholic Charities Development Director, Christopher Brancato will be honored at upcoming community events for their support of those in need.
Monsignor Tillyer will be honored at the Assumption College for Sisters at their Annual Caring Basket Gala on April 4th. Mr. Brancato will be honored at St. Mary's High School Spring Scholarship Gala on May 10th.
Msgr. Herbert Tillyer is the Pastor of Saint Peter the Apostle Parish in Parsippany. He began his work as a parish priest at Saint Virgil’s Parish in Morris Plains, when he was ordained in 1968 by Bishop Lawrence Casey. Bishop Casey assigned him as the temporary Vice Chancellor of the Diocese in 1974. When Bishop Rodimer became the Bishop, he appointed Father Herb in December 1977 as the Chancellor of the Diocese and then in 1999 as the Vicar General after the death of Msgr. Joseph Brestel. His “temporary” service at the Diocese was complete in 2005 after 31 years working with Bishop Casey, Bishop Rodimer, and Bishop Serratelli. Monsignor Tillyer is the only person active within the Diocese of Paterson to serve on all three Catholic Charities Boards of Trustees.
Mr. Brancato has worked with Catholic Charities in various capacities since he was a teenager. Previously, he served as the Director of Development and Public Relations for the Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) and prior to that, he was the Director of the Fitzpatrick House Group Home in Pompton Lakes. He is a past Board Member of the Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Intervention Services (DASI) and a current Board Member of the Jefferson Township Chamber of Commerce. Member of the Knights of Columbus (#3835 Our Lady of the Highway Council), a Rotarian, and a member of DPD’s People Need Friends Volunteer Group.
