Thank you Pastor, Father Brian Sullivan and Parish Family of Christ the King, New Vernon for their thoughtful contributions through the We Care, We Share Program to the Department for Persons with Disabilities, Straight and Narrow, and Catholic Family and Community Services.
These generous gifts allowed Catholic Charities to purchase a new generator at Wiegand Farm for DPD; 2 new refrigerators at the Father English Food Pantry; and helped cover the cost of Crossfit training at Straight and Narrow.
Through the generosity of a prior bequest, an initiative called “We Care/We Share” was launched in 2017 to support the Church’s current and future outreach programs. Parishioners from Christ the King have pledged contributions which were then matched from interest generated from the bequest. The Fund is used to serve organizations within the Paterson Diocese.
Each of the group homes at DPD have backup generators should an emergency hit. This contribution allowed the Department to purchase a generator that had recently broken at their Wiegand Farm in Jefferson Township.
Catholic Charities Food Pantries accommodate over 25,000 visits each year. Thanks to this contribution, the Father English Food Pantry will be able to give out more fresh produce and meats to those who seek help.
Straight and Narrow's Monsignor Mark Giordani Center for Rehabilitation is currently under construction thanks to the largest gift ever received at Catholic Charities from the Moglia Family Foundation. This Center will provide health and wellness services for those at Straight and Narrow. In recent months, Straight and Narrow has partnered with Soar Fit to provide Crossfit training for those served. This kind contribution will help fund training sessions, during the time the Center is under construction.
"We are so grateful for the continued support of Father Brian Sullivan and the Parishioners of Christ the King Parish. These gifts will make a difference in the lives of many," said Scott Milliken,CEO, Catholic Charities.
