Thank you to store manager Guillermo Garcia and the ShopRite Cuellar Family for their continued support of Catholic Charities.
Throughout the month of August, their store on Paulison Avenue in Passaic collected funds for our Father English Food Pantry, based out of Paterson.
Low income families and individuals are eligible to visit our “Consumer Choice” Food Pantry once a month. The food pantry addresses Community Living Services, allowing households to offset food costs. Today, the Food Pantry serves approximately 700 families on a monthly basis.
The FECC Food Pantry allows individuals and families to choose their own groceries, using a point system that is based on family size, income, and monthly expenses. Clients are allowed to go through the aisles with a shopping cart pick products off the shelf, much as they would at a typical supermarket. The Statewide Emergency Food and Anti-Hunger Network named our Food Pantry, the model food pantry for the State of New Jersey.
Throughout the month of August, the suprmarket had "donate now" opportunities at each of the cash registers with information about the food pantries.
"We are proud to support the Father English Food Pantry and our local communities. We hope that our generosity inspires others to give, " said store manager Guillermo Garcia. Mr. Garcia has been connected to the Food Pantry for over a decade and is very much involved in giving back to the community.
"We are so blessed to have Mr. Garcia and the ShopRite Cuellar Family as community partners. God bless them as they help us provide help and create hope for those in need," said Carlos Roldan, the Director of Catholic Charities Food Pantries.
Mr. Garcia was presented with a plaque on August 23rd by Mr. Roldan and Catholic Charities Development Director, Chris Brancato for his continued support and advocacy.
