Sixth Grade Religious Education Classes Collect Baby Items for the Father English Food Pantry.
The sixth grade Religious Education classes from Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, Oak Ridge and Saint John Vianney, Stockholm held a project to collect needy baby items for the Father English Food Pantry.
The students took turns speaking at all the masses at both parishes explaining their project. With the help of their teachers, Mrs. Linda Albecker and Mrs. Vanessa Levine they collected and assembled boxes and bags of diapers, wipes, baby lotion, baby food and other baby needs.
he items they collected filled the entire back of a minivan. On April 15, Jamison Reid, one of the sixth graders, and his mother, Mrs. Kim Reid, brought all the items to the FECC Food Pantry. After unloading all the donations, they had a tour of the Food Pantry and Thrift Shop with Sr. Maureen Sullivan, Director of Volunteers and Rosalba Mejia, Food Pantry staff member. They learned about the many persons FECC serves and the importance of the baby items for families. The donations came just in time to help families for Easter. Jamison and Mrs. Reid left with new ideas of projects to help those in need.
