Project Homeless Connect began in 2004, when the city of San Francisco organized a special day dedicated to providing necessary services to the homeless. The Morris County Project Homeless Connect event began in 2008 under the leadership of the Mental Health Association and typically serves about 200 people per year.
Some 43 community-based service providers, including Catholic Charities, participated. and helped provide resources free of charge.
In 2018, NJCounts found 9,303 homeless men, women and children (300 in Morris County) in 6,982 households across New Jersey.
Catholic Charities' Community Emergency Support (CES) Program in Morris County offers a homeless prevention program to assist families to prevent potential homelessness or transition from a state of homelessness to Morris County Residents. The program offers clients short term financial assistance individuals and families at imminent risk of homeless with limited or no other resources available; linkage to basic essential services like food and clothing from our Hope House Choice Pantry.
