It’s time to celebrate our Direct Support Professional Heroes! From September 13th - 19th, we celebrate Direct Support Professionals Week. A time to recognize those who provide direct support to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Now, more than ever before, the direct care staff at the Department for Persons with Disabilities have demonstrated heroic levels of selflessness and compassion on the job as they care for the individuals we serve during an unprecedented time in history.
This year, the New Jersey Association of Community Providers (NJACP) is celebrating staff members in Direct Support Roles who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the face of the global health crisis, at their Virtual Heroes Event. On Friday, September 18th, Grace Winiarski, will be honored as the representative from the Department for Persons with Disabilites.
Grace is a Gruenert staff member who has been working tirelessly at Walsh House during the pandemic. Grace has switched her shifts many time to meet the needs of the House. She has given many creative ideas and suggestions to keep the residents happy, safe and interested and involved. She does without asking, gives without taking and works well with all of the staff and residents. She is a wonderful and compassionate example of what is it to be a DSP in these or any times.
Congrats to Grace and all of the DSP heroes from throughout New Jersey!
