Individuals from 3 group homes were in the Line of March
For the 6th consectutive year, individuals from Catholic Charities, Department for Persons with Disabilities participated in the Morris County St. Patrick's Day Parade. This Parade, which took place in Morristown, welcomed between 60,000 - 70,000 onlookers.
Friend of Catholic Charities, Rev. Patrick "Paddy" O'Donovan prayed for the sun to shine on his proud moment, as grand marshal of the 40th annual event. Father Paddy was honored at our Caritas Gala in 2017 for his continued kindness.
It was a beautiful day, blue skies and mid-40s temperatures lured a huge crowd for the parade, one of the largest of its kind in New Jersey.
Individuals from DPD's Finnegan House, Murray House and Walsh House all proudly participated and waved to the many onlookers.
Our connection with the Parade Committee was forged thanks to Past Grand Marshal, John Butler, who was a board member for DPD for nearly a decade. John died in 2018, but will forever be held close to our hearts.
"It is awesome to participate," said Kathy from Murray House. "I enjoy waving at all of the children and loving supporters of Catholic Charities. It's always a great day!"
