The Father English Community Center’s Outreach Program to Youth (OTARY) has been playing in the Hoop Heaven Basketball Spring League since 2013. In 2013, the team won the championship; and in 2017 the Father English once again joined the league for youths in grades 9th- 12th.
The league is a 9 game guarantee with the top 4 teams making the playoffs. Last year FECC made it to the playoffs exhibiting a great amount of discipline and effort. They learned many lessons such as sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment. For many it was their first time being part of a team, therefore a life changing experience for those members.
Once again we joined the league this year; FECC held tryouts on different dates, in which each OTARY member had an opportunity to be a part of the team. We now have a team of 14 members, which began the league in the first week of April under the direction of our volunteer coach Woodrow (Woody) Lawrence, assistant coach Yolanda Estrada, and Youth Program assistant Martha Aponte.
